CUSTOMER COMMENTS ON THE TM-125 MICROPHONE

Thank you for all the help you gave me and the school regarding the mics! I used one microphone for the performance and the audience of parents noticed the difference right away. Some comments I received were "I finally heard my daughter" "I love the sound!" so it was well worth it. -- Neal Fischer, South Loop Elementary, Chicago, IL

Purchased the mics for a client for a production of "Amahl...," and long-term for use with children's choirs, future dramatic productions, etc. They are ecstatic with the results. -- Rev. Terry Heislen, OSL Voices Raising!, Plano, TX.

The TM-125 was extremely natural. At one point the choir director was sure that I had turned off the mic. I had to fade the mic out before she would believe that I was reinforcing the dialogue. -- Gary Wakenhut, Lakeview, MI

The mics have been working and sound great for the video recordings of the cheerleading competitions. -- Mike Caldwell, Covington, OH

My stage floor mic has worked out great - I use it regularly for my Reader's Theatre (on a table) ... no problems whatsoever. -- Christina Richards, Concord, CA

Your mics are working great for the plays. Pickup of children’s voices during plays much better than with handheld mics. Gain before feedback much better. Everyone who cares seems to like them so far. -- Stephen Ferguson, Greenville, SC

They worked great - I followed the placement directions and also did wireless on the main singers, but they picked up what we needed. I would be happy to recommend 'em to anyone. -- Joe Ross, St. Bernard's Parish, Brooklyn, NY

This is an unsolicited testimonial from a school music teacher. To amplify young actors and singers he tried stand-mounted mics, hanging mics, and wireless mics. They all were disappointing, but the TM-125C floor microphones did an excellent job for him. Click here to read his story. It's full of interesting details about all the approaches he tried.
They worked pretty good. However, they do not have the "WOW" factor that I was hoping for. Any advice? -- Scott Price, Washington County High School, Sandersville, GA

Hi Scott,
It sounds like you are up against the laws of physics. The main thing is to try to mount the speakers closer to the audience than they are to the microphones... on stands or hanging off a ceiling grid. That can make a huge difference in gain before feedback. Another trick is to have a separate PA system (mic > mixer channel > amplifier > speaker) for each microphone. That way, the number of open mics is minimum and gain-before-feedback is highest. You can mount the speakers close together. With that system you don't have to ride the mic faders up and down; they can all stay up. You probably have read "10 Tips to Prevent Feedback" on our web site. It has lots of other suggestions. -- Bruce Bartlett

Thanks. Very helpful. I do probably need to move the speakers closer to the audience, or rather farther from the stage mics. Thanks for the help. -- Scott Price

The TM-125 sounds incredibly rich and clear. We also have the PCC-160, but this will be replaced by a couple more of the TM-125's. So far, I'm using it for a couple of children's musicals here at my church. Also using it as a safety microphone just in case our wireless fails. Been using it at least three times by myself at local theater performances. Been on a couple of film sets for plant mics. Next, going to use it as a room mic for the drumset, but more for the kick drum as this will be placed at about 6-8' in front of the set. I'm really surprised that I can use these in almost any situation. +1 for you guys. More mics to be purchased in the future.
-- Alan Chang, San Francisco, CA
Bruce,
The mics have been fantastic so far. We used them during a portion of a choral concert last week and they will be used for their first middle school play on October 28 and 29. We are very excited that we will be able to hear our little ones without having to use body mics. I will definitely check out the website and thanks for sending the newsletter last week. Our space is still in its early stages and we don't have a technical director at this point, so it is extremely useful to have resources like these. Thanks so much.
-- Meredith Purgason, casciahall.org
I used the TM-125 at our last show and I loved it. I placed it in the center of my dance stage flanked by two PCC-160s. Man, I could actually tell the difference. A lot less noise, less bounce, less EQ needed, better rejection, and what I thought was a much cleaner sound. You guys did a great job with this thing.
-- James Dunlap, Rhythm in Shoes
Bruce, where have you been all my thespian life? You were most helpful, accommodating, and prompt. The TM-125 is just what we needed. Even the soft talkers and the "stage whispers" were audible. I so appreciate the mic and especially your expert help in sending it/setting it up by our Friday nite show.
-- Kathy Morris, Community Theater, Canandaigua, NY
Received the mics yesterday -- checked 'em out and all working fine. Thanks for sending them so fast and thanks for all the updates and phone calls. What a treat to do business with such a great outfit.
-- J.R., St. Bernard's Parish, NY
The customer below is a sound mixer for his church, which presents plays on a stage. He feeds one or two TM-125 audio signals into a camcorder to record the plays with clear audio.

Bruce, I just wanted to thank you for your superb product. I did a sound test yesterday with one of the microphones. I placed it on a piece of thin wood about 9" by 15" with most of the wood [in front of] the mic. I aimed the mic toward a carpeted area about 35' by 15'. The clarity, range and pattern were excellent.

The noise floor is just fine in our particular applications. Obviously every user's application and environment is going to be different, but for ours, the noise floor was adequate.

I got the opportunity to put them to use during a live performance recently. Their performance was beyond expectation. Because I was using them on a carpeted surface, I mounted the [two mics] each on a 20" by 20" piece of hardboard, with the larger area of the hardboard [in] front of the mics, and placed them in front of the stage area about 15' apart. Like I said, they performed beyond what I expected. I connected them to our Mackie board by XLR cables into two channels. It took very little preamp-gain to get the TM-125's to clearly pick up every bit of dialogue across the entire stage area... Incredible. Thanks for an outstanding product.
-- Ralph, Tampa, Florida.

I tried the TM-125 on a junior high school play. It was pretty amazing -- really good gain before feedback and a nice pickup pattern. I was pleased with it. It's a lot less hassle to use than wireless mics, and less expensive.
-- Joe Wisler, Life Center Project audio
The TM-125 is very acceptable and a good replacement for the PCC-160. Sounds and looks good.
